If you can't sleep, then get up and do something instead of lying there worrying.  It's the worry that gets you, not the lack of sleep.  ~Dale Carnegie

From "No Strings Attached"

Adam: You know I was thinking - we’re gonna have to come up with some new rules. I’d like to start calling you hunny and babe.
Emma: I don’t know about babe
Adam: No?  Snuggling?
Emma: Oh yeah. I’m going to hold your hand.
Adam: Wow, this is all moving so fast.
Emma: Also, I’d like to leave the door open when I pee.
Adam: I think no.
Emma: I think I’m gonna do it all the time. It’s gonna get weird.

The picture represents not only the fact that I feel like I was shoved through the gates of hell today, but the fact that I am laughing right now. I laughed so hard when I saw this on the gate to a high school.
The quote represents the fact that I am laughing, and focusing on moving forward with my life. I had to laugh as I watched this movie because I have considered peeing with the door open from now on.  :)

Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival.  -Winston Churchill

Our country is not the only thing to which we owe our allegiance.  It is also owed to justice and to humanity.  Patriotism consists not in waving the flag, but in striving that our country shall be righteous as well as strong.  ~James Bryce

"There is a tide in the affairs of men.
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat,
And we must take the current when it serves,
Or lose our ventures."
- William Shakespeare, Julius Caesar

"How come dumb stuff seems so smart while you're doing it?"
This photo is from a year ago- almost to the day actually. A kid thought "running" over my car would be fun. And yes, I mean literally running. Whoops! Sometimes I think... what was I thinking? How did I ever think this was a good idea...

"I can now successfully drive a stick. That's a huge accomplishment."
Shannon Miller

Ok- the quote? I can't actually drive a stick. And the photo is of me working on my first piece of drywall. But, both reveal a sense of accomplishment for something that most people wouldn't care about. That shouldn't take away from our own sense of greatness in a moment.

Today, I feel a sense of accomplishment. I am finishing my English Language Learner endorsement today. It has been a two year program- almost every Wednesday. And, I am done today. All I have to do is present my final paper... which is already written.  Wahoo!!!

"Things were always so easy between us before, but this is real life. Yes we made mistakes, we screwed up. Maybe we can be take couple that finds their way through it to something better, something we both know is worth fighting for and protecting it." One Tree Hill

A year ago... I woke up on the 9th of May resolved. I didn't know it would be such a long journey to be able to live that resolution, but here I am, a year later, on the 9th of May, resolved to fight again. The difference is this time, I'm not alone. And that may be exactly what it takes...

I brought children into this dark world because it needed the light that only a child can bring.  ~Liz Armbruster
I got to spend today with a wonderful little girl. She offered to feed me beans, but I love her anyway.

We do not remember days; we remember moments.  ~Cesare Pavese, The Burning Brand

I want to look back on my life and remember the good memories. And the funny thing is that I do remember days- and moments.

A little Consideration, a little Thought for Others, makes all the difference.
Eeyore

So many people have done little things that have mattered to me. I am thankful for all my friends and family- and for the little things in my life.

Day 19: May 4

“Kind words are a creative force, a power that concurs in the building up of all that is good, and energy that showers blessings upon the world.”

 Lawrence G. Lovasik quotes

I had someone message that I'm doing a good job yesterday, and I got an email today saying the same thing. It is just so nice to be told that I am doing something right in my life. I need to be better at telling other people they are doing something right too.

Day 18: May 3

Anger is just a cowardly extension of sadness. It's a lot easier to be angry at someone than it is to tell them you're hurt. Tom Gates

I get scared and hurt- and my first reaction is anger. Today was a rough day- and I know it stemmed from my hurt. I was more than happy to go to bed early so I didn't have to fight my anger anymore.

Day 17: May 2

"Learning to live in the present moment is part of the path of joy."
Sarah Ban Breathnach

Today = rock climbing, mini-golf and driving in tiny race cars that scare the crap out of me. I was called a mean name, but I had fun and survived, so I don't care.  :)

Day 16: May 1

The moment when you first wake up in the morning is the most wonderful of the twenty-four hours.  No matter how weary or dreary you may feel, you possess the certainty that, during the day that lies before you, absolutely anything may happen.  And the fact that it practically always doesn't, matters not a jot.  The possibility is always there.  ~Monica Baldwin

I love starting the morning out feeling good. It does make the day so much better- no matter what happens.
